Nov 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka has initiated preliminary engagement with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to explore the introduction of Starlink Internet Services in Sri Lanka, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) said.
The TRCSL said in a communiqué that the first round of discussions was positive.
The discussion was focused on regulatory aspects as well as prerequisites of initiating the service, owned by Elon Musk’s rocket company SpaceX, in the near future for Sri Lanka, according to the TRCSL.
According to SpaceX, Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe. The service offers broadband through a growing network of low-orbiting satellites, which now number more than 1,700.
